January is always a busy month for us clearing gutters, unblocking down pipes, most of the leaves are normally down this time of year. Once we have cleared your gutters for the first time we all send you a yearly courtesy txt/reminder, for some reason lots of the December customers often re book for January this makes it a busy month on regular repeat customers which is always nice to see everybody again. There’s not many reasons why we can’t get out to work, obviously strong winds stops us from going up ladders, snow & frost being the other two. Now we don’t operate in the first, over the years l have learnt it’s best to rearrange when there is a frost, everything in the gutter is frozen solid, especially on plastic guttering you end doing more damage to joints etc and how can you unblock a blocked down pipe if it’s frozen solid, so it’s always in the back of my mind, it’s nice to have full diary, but if we gets a frost we always rearrange.
So one of our regular yearly customers is in Haselmere, a big glass roof conservatory at the back which means we gets to use the gutter vacuum, blocked gutters that can’t be easily done via the ladder, so we turned up got the front and side gutters cleared, usual service everything cleared and all down pipes flushed to make sure there 100% clear, round the back get the gutter~vac set up and go to work on the awkward areas, everything cleared, cup of tea on cold day and onto the next job.
Next job in Farnham, we have a lot of yearly customers who have hedgehog gutter brushes, it’s a dirty job but we will always do it. Up the ladders and remove all hedgehog brushes, clear gutters, then the dirty work starts, clean the hedgehog brushes back up the ladder and fit them brushes for another year, tidy up sweep everything up onto the next job.
